CONDITIONS AND BENEFITS FOR WHICH CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY CAN ASSIST:
Craniosacral therapy is a highly effective light-touch therapy that works with the whole body and the source of pain and dysfunction simultaneously. With CST and given proper support, the body will heal itself, creating a custom solution to any problem that is causing discomfort.
Craniosacral therapy is a wholistic, manual therapy that addresses physical symptoms while also relieving any stresses that are held in the body. Craniosacral therapy is named for the craniosacral system: the bones, tissues and fluids that support our central nervous system. All these bodily systems pulsate in a symmetrical balanced and rhythmic motion. This rhythm is reflected through our bodily tissues to all parts of our body, indicating where there are restrictions, adhesions or accumulated life stresses being held in the body.
Fascia, our bodily tissues, is like a thin cling film that surrounds and connects every muscle, organ, bone, nerve and blood vessel in the body. Injuries, inflammation, stress, tension, illness, accidents, trauma, surgery or poor posture can cause fascia to become tight, inflexible and unbalance the cranial sacral rhythm. As a result restrictions and blockages can develop creating underlying aches, pain, dysfunctions and illness.
Craniosacral therapists place their hands over the area of the body that is most related to the source of the problem as we are trained to feel and monitor changes in the body’s tissues, subtle rhythms and fluids. Any blockages, pulls, compressions, restrictions or accumulated life stresses are released, enabling the tissues and the cranialsacral system to return to proper healthy functioning.
In the process of monitoring, craniosacral therapists hands follow changes in the client’s body as it occurs rather than making the decision to move a person’s body in any given direction. This is the principal difference between CST and most other therapeutic types of bodywork.
As life experiences are processed through our bodies, our body’s work around held experiences until the load becomes too great and we develop symptoms. Craniosacral therapy helps your body to release the effects of held life experiences and is extremely effective in the resolution of a multitude of conditions as it lift the deep imprints of stress out of the nervous system.
Craniosacral Therapy and Myofascial Release allows your entire body to unwind and release and works on a profound level of healing in all the bodily systems including the musculoskeletal and nervous system. The nervous system dictates all of our bodily functions and as tension is released, the nervous system is deeply calmed and rebalanced. Stress or trauma related symptoms often improve including anxiety, insomnia, headaches and digestive disorders. MyoFascial Release relieves tension and pain by releasing and lengthening both muscles and fascia.
One of the strength’s of CST is that it initiates the self-healing potential that we all have inside us and that healing happens from the inside to the outside.
The international “Time Magazine” called Craniosacral Therapy “one of the top healing innovators to watch”.
